Custom
packaging leader, Peek Packaging offers a cost effective alternative to
the typically expensive and bulky setup boxes – – simplex trays with
telescoping lids. Historically, setup boxes have proven to be expensive
for companies to use to package their products for a number of reasons.
Some manufacturers feel that setup boxes can be cost-prohibitive
because they are typically made of a heavier, thicker chipboard that is
more expensive as a raw material. In addition setup boxes are produced
as finished products, making them labor intensive to manufactureand
are therefore shipped fully assembled, but empty to manufacturers.
Manufacturers find that they are paying to “ship air” in these empty
boxes.
“Simplex
trays are great alternatives to setup boxes for many reasons,” says Bob
Peek, CEO of Peek Packaging. “First and foremost, they can be shipped
flat, which saves manufacturers a lot of money in shipping costs,” he
continues. “Secondly, labor costs for manufacturing simplex trays are
lower, because the finished product is shipped to our clients
unassembled.”
Although simplex trays are shipped unassembled to clients, they are extremely easy to put together. “Clients tell us that they have experienced no significant fulfillment issues using simplex trays,” reports Peek. “In fact, they feel the savings on the simplex trays outweighs the minimum amount of added labor their teams do to assemble the simplex trays.”
Manufacturers also save money on storage space for simplex trays because they require much less space than standard setup boxes. “Manufacturers can store many more unassembled simplex trays in a smaller footprint than setup boxes,” says Peek.
Simplex Trays are available double glued and in a variety of sizes. Peek Packaging can customize simplex trays by direct printing with a 4 color process, including photo quality graphics with a wide variety of finishes (i.e.: UV ,Spot UV Embossing and foil stamping). These simplex trays are normally used with chipboard material and are easy to print and assemble.
Peek Packaging is available to consult on simplex tray packaging projects for potential clients.
